Accelerated Learning Program

Our school offers our 6th through 12th grade students a complete package. In our schools the students start each day by discussing a hadith on character development, writing down their goals and discussing the daily affirmation.

This is our fully mentored curriculum program. Within this program there are three levels available to our students. each levels include Islamic Studies, Qur’an and Arabic courses.

  • Level one is the basic high school diploma track.
  • Level two is our college prep track that is available to students who have successfully mastered their first 4 courses and 2 college prep modules.
  • · Level three is our dual credit track that is offered to students who are on the college prep track, College credit courses are offered at this level.

The Ultimate Learning Program

The Ultimate Learning Program is the confluence of the Accelerated Learning Strategies developed by Howard Stephen Berg and Dr. Kuni Michael Beasley.  The Program is designed to provide people with the strategies, methods, applications, routines, and techniques to learn better and faster… and perform better and faster!

The Foundation Series

The Ultimate Learning Foundation Series consists of the four core components of the Program:

READ-STUDY-TEST-WRITE.

READ – The Ultimate Reading Solution

Developed by Howard Berg – based on his famous Mega Speed Reading program that sold 600,000 copies in the 90s – this component is an incredible improvement over previous programs.  The program is enhanced with new material and application techniques developed by Dr. Kuni Beasley.  The READ component has two parts with 4 hours of video plus reference material,

READ – Part One Overview

Welcome to the world of Speed Reading and Accelerated Learning! Our Students will learn the importance of schema and how to increase their understanding of what they read. In addition to that, they will learn techniques to increase their level of comprehension and the four levels of reading.

Summary:

  • Learning is understanding the significance and meaning of what you read, and being able to recall and apply what you read when you need it.
  • How to learn faster with the three levels of learning: literal, implied, and inferential.
  • How to use the Power of Schema so your brain can quickly assemble patterns just like puzzle pieces.
  • How to use your hands keep the eyes moving and the vision aimed and focused.
  • Practice the 16 minute drill a minimum of three times per week and watch your speed sky rocket!

READ – Part Two Overview

Reading with a purpose significantly improves your learning and most importantly their retention of new information. As students study in this section they will be exposed to new techniques and systems to help them improve how they learn.

Summary:

  • Learn the Four Levels of Reading – Elementary, Inspectional, Analytical, and Syntopical
  • Apply the four steps of Inspectional Reading are Scope, Schema, Scan, and Skim.
  • How to use Patterns provide context.
  • How to use the FOIL (Front-Outside-Inside-Last) process when previewing and skimming material.
  • How to avoid losing 40% of new material we are exposed to in four to six hours.

STUDY – Overview

Students will learn to adjust their study strategies over a broad range of learning needs. They will also learn techniques that will help them assimilate a significant amount of material in a minimum amount of time. Innovative Note Taking Techniques are introduced and important tips will be shared on how to quickly target the most important information they need.

Summary:

  • Learn the ROAD method – How to Read, Organize, Analyze and Document information
  • Learn the limitation of short term memory and how to overcome it.
  • How to quickly extract key information with Dr. Beasley’s ABCOQ Technique – Abstract of terms, Biographies of people, Chronology of events, Outline of Headers and Questions
  • Learn the ABC’s of time management.

TEST - Overview

Students will learn the Seven Levels of Knowledge and how to apply that information as they prepare for their tests. In addition, they will be taught valuable strategies for managing their testing time so they can maximize their results. Tips on how to prioritize their test taking time and additional memory techniques are included

Summary:

  • Understand the different testing formats and focus your preparation.
  • How to preview your tests using the Scope, Schema, Scan, Skim method.
  • Understand the three basic types of questions on an essay exam.
  • How to use side notes on essay exams.

WRITE – Part One Overview:

Only 10% of High School graduates can write a reasonably coherent paragraph. Don’t let this statistic include you! This section will introduce you to specific techniques to use when writing and how the use of tables and drastically reduce your writing time.  Building block method allows you to expand your writing effortlessly. The systems you are going to learn will allow you to write a simple paragraph, an essay, or even your thesis for graduate school. This step by step method, is easy to learn and even easier to apply.

Summary:

  • How using tables in your word processor give you tremendous advantages.
  • How to use Clustering and compiling methods to organize your tabled information.
  • How to apply the KISS Method (Key Points, Insight. Significance and Summation) to writing.
  • How to use classical Rhetoric: ethos, logos and pathos to enhance your writing.

WRITE – Part Two Overview:

During this video series you will be exposed to methods to alleviate Writer’s Block and how to stay focused and creative while working on a long project. The ability to introduce the personal and emotional component of writing will be addressed. Also the importance of how to polish a finished work using analytical and structural techniques will be taught by Howard Berg.

  • There are four stages to writing.
  • How to focus on whom you are writing for, what you want to say, and how you want to say it.
  • How to use the right organization in excellent writing.
  • Simple techniques to enhance revising your writing.
