In its first year (the 2008/2009 academic year), IQRA’ has undertook the Stanford Achievement Test in April of 2009. So how did we fare?

We will start with the first three grades who performed excellent. The next graph shows how 1st, 2nd and 2rd graders at IQRA’ Academy fared against national standards.

4th graders were just as excellent exceeding Massachusetts, Connecticut and national standards. The 2nd graph shows how the 4th graders at IQRA’ Academy have fared in the Stanford 10.

Our 8th graders did a good job as well. They exceeded national standards but fell slightly behind Massachusetts and Connecticut. The results are good but we see that we can improve in this field for the upcoming year insha’ Allah. Many of our students moved from public schools and got aquainted with the Accelerated Learning Program during their first year at IQRA’.  The 3rd graph shows how the 8th graders at IQRA’ Academy have fared against national standards.

The mission of Iqra’ Academy is to provide excellent academic and Islamic education in accordance with the Qur’an and Sunnah. Our long term plan is to direct our cooperative effort at creating a school that is characterized by:

School Leaders and Faculty who:

• Are stable and committed to upholding the founding mission, vision, Islamic and academic principles set forth by the governing body as defined in the bylaws
• Demonstrate proficiency in the areas of scholarship and administrative expertise
• Design school activities intended to help the students develop and demonstrate individual talent, self-esteem, leadership characteristics and creativity
• Ensure the integration of the achievements of Muslim scholars in the fields of humanities and sciences within the school’s curriculum

An Infrastructure which:

• Provides an attractive safe and nurturing environment and school community
• Fulfills it functions in a school building suitable to support a full Islamic and academic program considering the needs of the student body, faculty and administrative staff
• Employs the most recent technology to support academic and administrative requirements
• Comprises Kindergarten through twelfth grade
